Review: Kevin Beautymaker Aqua Light Foundation

Hey folks *wink*, it's been a while since I did a cosmetics review, actually it would really take a bit more time for reviews since Im beginning to get that lazyyy feeling, like I don't feel like wearing any makeup, or trying makeup. This review was really due a month ago, but yeah, a good product, but I finally found products that can be called HG (holy grail) for me and thus stopped my "search". Well, onto the review shall we?

I got this foundation because a lot of bloggers said this is a great dupe for the Lunasol Aqua Foundation which costs an arm and a leg. I got this for less than 15$ for a 30ml tub and I'm very satisfied.

This KBM Foundie came in a sturdy jar with a spatula for hygienic purposes, I got the shade in #1, which looks too dark/orange in the pot, but actually blends well upon application, similar to the effect of Legere Multiwhite BB Cream.

This foundation has the GREATEST coverage I've tried so far, compared to kryolan's TV paintstick, MAC's foundations, etc.  A little goes a long way so I guess the tiny jar could last you a while.

A tip though, make sure to store this in a cool dry place because in the place I live in, a hot tropical country, these type of foundations would expire faster.

Me without the foundation:

Me with the foundation on:

What I Like

  • Yes, it is water light. Feels like nothing on
  • Glowy finish
  • Maximum coverage

What I Don't Like

  • It comes in a jar, even with a spatula, I prefer a more sanitized container like tube or pump
  • I can only purchase thru pre-order

Who will I recommend this to?

To those who likes glowy finishes, high coverage foundations

Will I repurchase?

Nope, I just realized my skin looks better when it breathes.

Investment Bags on a Budget

I am currently on my "bag-phase" and good thing my auntie was nice enough to give me some of her bags that she is not using anymore. My auntie has a severe case of bagaholicness and her bags no longer fit the custom compartment she built for them.

I also want to invest on bags that came from my hard-earned worked-for moolah, but I'm not yet ready to spend on a luxury brand so I went on and googling what bags are nice to buy even if I'm on a budget.

TheBudgetBabe.com is a great blogsite I've found that has different posts on being chic while on a budget. The post that lured me to her site was "Investment Bags on a Budget"

[1] Stella McCartney for LeSportsac Hobo, $182.99 [2] Linea Pelle 'Dylan' Patchwork Tote, $297 [3] B. Makowsky 'Berlin' Tote, $134 [4] Anthropologie 'Station-to-Station' Bag, $99.95

Let's say you've saved up around $300 to spend on a classic, high-quality handbag. Now before you go out and buy a Coach, stop and consider the following: Do you really want the same purse that every mall rat in America is carrying? Or do you want something a little bit more original, a little bit more distinct and dare I say, more fashionable? If your answer is yes (and it better be!), then keep reading for some Coach alternatives, plus ways to score a so-called investment bag on the cheap:

  • Online sample sale websites: Ruelala.com, Hautelook, Ideeli.com, and Gilt.com are great places to score a premium handbag for less. Gilt.com (http://www.gilt.com/invite/budgetbabe), my fave site at the moment, has featured GrysonBotkierLauren Merkinand other top handbag designers at drastically reduced prices. Just be sure to check out the sale the moment it starts as the most popular styles will often sell out within 15 minutes.
  • Off-price retailers: Overstock.comSmartbargains.com, and Bluefly.com all offer designer handbags without the designer prices. Some designers to look for: Linea Pelle,KoobaHayden-Harnett or Foley + Corinna.
  • Specialty apparel retailers: Anthropologie.com carries many designer labels, they just don't advertise them as such on their website. Also, keep an eye on the handbag section at BananaRepublic.com and JCrew.com. They often have beautiful leather handbags at a fraction of the price you'd pay for a top designer name.
  • Department stores: Macy's (which has been hurting financially, but that's another story...) carries this brand called B. Makowsky which is surprisingly stylish. TJ Maxx and Marshall's carry this brand, too, and I often find myself reaching for them on the racks. They look expensive and are made from genuine leather. Also, I've been really happy with my Fossil cross-body bag, a brand carried at most department stores.
  • Outlet malls: If you must have Coach or Dooney & Bourke, at least buy yours at an outlet. Never pay full price, ladies!
  • If you don't like leather: Get a chic bag by LeSportsac,Kidrobot or Matt & Nat. OK, not exactly an "investment bag" but they boast a high "cool" factor, for a low(er) price.
  • Never buy fakes: You know I've got nothing against a Steve Madden bag that looks suspiciously similar to YSL, but the fake designer goods you see on the streets of NYC or shady websites (fake Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel) docontribute to bad stuff like human trafficking and child labor. Besides, if you're driving a '90 Honda Accord and carrying a Louis Vuitton, you will look like a damn fool. Get yourself a good looking bag that will make you look good, too (see above!). Soapbox, off.

GuyLiner : Yay or Nay?

Ever since Adam Lambert came out on American Idol, the guyliner craze has become more popular. Yeah it has been there before, emo guys wearing eyeliner, but now, even some K-Pop artists, J-Pop artists, and even regular guys wear them.

According to the urban dictionary: Eyeliner for guys, no longer only for homosexuals, which is becoming surprisingly popular in today's society.

I haven't seen my guy wearing eyeliner, but I'm  all in for it no matter what your sexual preference is. Girl, guy, or gay. To some guys, it does make them appear "stronger" looking. Especially K-pop guys.

So for my readers; is it a yay? or a nay?

Ouch! Angular Cheleitis... Mouth Sores.. :(

*sob* I thought it was an ordinary chapping of lips case yesterday, but today was different. I wont post pictures cause it's gross. The corners of my lips are drying out reaaally bad. According to my research, I have an Angular Cheleitis. According to wikipedia;

Angular cheilitis (also called perl├Ęche[1]:309cheilosis or angular stomatitis) is an inflammatory lesion at the labial commissure, or corner of the mouth, and often occurs bilaterally. The condition manifests as deep cracks or splits. In severe cases, the splits can bleed when the mouth is opened and shallowulcers or a crust may form.

It can be common to pregnant women who lack in iron, and other vitamins. (I do take my supplements but sometimes I think it isnt enough, I have slight anemia). It hurts so bad... and I relieve it by Virgin Coconut Oil my miracle oil, I'm about to finish the whole bottle that I bought from Botany Works since I use it on almost anywhere! (Tummy; to prevent stretchmarks, and of course the dry corners of my mouth)

Virgin Coconut Oil has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties that can help with my sore, it's moisturizing too. But I will of course go to the doctor tomorrow to have it checked. But for quick relief, VCO is my miracle worker.

The 123rd Follower

I guess when one adds me up, another one leaves. Which is very sad :(
Maybe my blog is getting boring to some of my readers, since I'm not blogging much about beauty these past few days. I've just been blogging on whatever comes to my mood, or my mind.

When I first began to blog, I was very enthusiastic to tell readers what knowledge I've accumulated through other people and based from experience, then as the days go by, I began felt obligated. Obligated to post something to keep readers interested. Quite frustrating.

Then I decided to stop. Stop the pressure on myself and just write whatever I feel, whether it's about beauty, food, politics, games, or whatever. When Chic Hits the Pan is no longer just a beauty blog.

So yeah, just this weird update since I'm curious who reads or not. I cant believe I actually achieved more than 100 followers as well (A "Thank You" Giveaway coming really soon) but for those who are loyally following and not just who followed because there's a contest and then remove you once the contest is closed *ehem*

Well that's it for now.
:)
<3 lots,

Review: Golden Spoon Yogurt

So I accompanied my grandma to greenhills today for her shopping, and while there, I decided to try a new yogurt place. "Golden Spoon Yogurt". I'm a  HUGE frozen yogurt fan as I love it's sweet, tarty, milky, taste. My favorites are red mango and white hat (white hat wins as #1!).

The people there were nice enough to give me free samples of different flavors to try. It comes with a regular paper cup, and of course, a shiny plastic golden spoon. I get to try cake batter, strawberry, and chocolate caramel. Well, what do I think? It's surprisingly salty. Yes, salty. It has a weird salty taste to ALL of the flavors I've tried. I'm not sure if it's that noticeable but of all yogurts I've tasted, theirs is the saltiest, and the fastest to melt. It's too watery. Lacks creaminess, and even the tart that most yogurts have. It's almost like ice cream mixed with 0.99% yogurt. It even has an aftertastes that really sticks! Even after eating a different meal!

I would recommend this to people who are new to eating yogurt as this does not taste like it at all, it tastes like salty ice cream. (Apologies, I cant get over the salt) and I guess one of their best qualities is their variety of flavor
I got to taste it for free, but I wont rave about it. Blah. :p

Will I go back? Nope.

Score: 3/5 Spoons

Happy Earth Day!! Envirosax: The Designer Reusable Bag

Another one of my addictions are bags. Of course I don't splurge on high-end designer bags, I just grab one whenever a bag gets my fancy.

While searching in google for a good shopping bag (longchamp was on my list), this bag caught my eye, the envirosax. Now what is envirosax? According to their website:

Envirosax® designer reusable bags are spreading the eco-friendly message with style!
Chic, inexpensive and compact, Envirosax® eco-friendly shopping bags carry the message of re-use to a world ready to embrace a brighter ecological future.
  • Tested for strength & safety
  • Super strong, holds 44lbs
  • Fully washable - won't fade
  • Super convenient & water-resistant
  • Fashionable & fun - a great gift idea!
  • Solution to one-use plastic bags

Since I dont get to go to malls often, I decided to grab one online, I got the design in "Marshmallow" which features a cute bunny in a light pink background. Did it live up to my expectations? Yes and more!

When I first received this bag, I was like, "what the, can this really hold up to 44lbs?" I mean, it was so light, and thin as paper! But the design was soooo cute and doesnt look cheap at all. Plus, I love the fact that it folds up into a compact size, just like a travel sized umbrella.
I used this bag everyday in my "pamamalengke" (grocery shopping) filled it up with cans, grains, etc, and it managed to hold up all that weight! Without any damage!
So over the course of time it gathered dirt etc.. so I decided to wash it (hand wash please). I was hesitant at first since I was afraid it might affect its quality or fade the print out, but it didnt. The best part is, it dried so quickly! Around 3 hours and it's ready to be used again. Love love love!

So do I recommend Envirosax? Yup!!!!

Natural Sunburn Remedies

Okay, even with super protection from my favorite sunscreen (Ocean Potion) it's still hard to prevent those ouchies when you just stay too long under the heat and sun. Thanks to http://skincare.lovetoknow.com/Natural_Sunburn_Remedies I found cheap but equally effective ways to cope with sunburn

Vinegar

Vinegar is one of those amazing products no household should be without. In addition to being useful in cooking and cleaning, it also has medicinal properties. It should be no surprise that vinegar is one of the most wonderful natural sunburn remedies. Simply soak a t-shirt or towels in vinegar and place it directly onto the skin. The vinegar will help to soothe the sunburn and alleviate the sting.

Tea

The tannins in tea work wonders on a sunburn. You can go about it a couple of different ways. The first is to wet a tea bag (or tea bags) and place it on the sunburned area. The second is to fill a bathtub with cool or lukewarm water and throw a bunch of tea bags in. Soaking in a relaxing, soothing tea bath is another way to alleviate the sting. Your third option is to boil up a big old pot of tea. Once all the tea is steeped, take out the bags and add some ice cubes until the water temperature is tolerable. Soak a towel in the tea (it will stain) and place it over the sun burned area.

Cold Milk

A glass of cold milk isn't only the perfect companion for a slice of chocolate cake; it's also a soothing natural sunburn remedy. It's actually the fat in the milk that's soothing, so it's best not to use skim. Simply soak some large pieces of gauze in milk and lay over the sunburned area. It will feel cool and soothing the second it's applied. If you'd like, you can repeat this process every thirty minutes or so. When you're done soaking your skin, take a nice cool shower. If you leave the milk on your skin, especially if it's really hot outside, it will just turn rancid. No one wants to smell that bad.

Aloe Vera: Most Popular Natural Sunburn Remedy

Most people know this by now, but aloe vera works wonders on burns, including sunburns. Your best bet is to use the plant itself and not an ointment or a cream. Break open a leaf and rub the plant's natural oils on your skin. Not only is it soothing, but it's also healing.

Baking Soda

Pour a cup of baking soda into a lukewarm bath, pick up your favorite paperback and have yourself a nice 30 minute soak. Soon the sting and swelling will be a distant memory.

When to See a Doctor

Hopefully if you overdid it in the sun, you only have a mild sunburn. In extreme cases, however, it's important to see a doctor. If you have a fever or chills or feel nauseous, it's probably a good idea to call your physician. Do the same if you feel dizzy, faint, or fatigued. If you can't stop itching and if your skin is discolored and deep red or purple (moreso than it should be), it would be in your best interest to call the doctor.

Is there Some Good Left in this World?

Update:
There is some good left in this world. Someone picked up my phone, called my hubby, they met up somewhere and returned it. *thankful*

:)

I lost my phone today. I'm not that sad, just frustrated and disappointed. It was an ordinary phone, used to call/sms friends, relatives, and business contact. It was one of the cheapest cherry mobile phones. P2 to be exact and just bought it last month.

I'm not fond of purchasing high-end cellphones, one reason is, I keep on losing em all the time. I don't know if I have this bad luck with phones. But I end up using more than 3-5 phones in a year, due to loss.

I wasn't expecting this. I left it in the taxi we rode earlier from the clinic. The driver seem to be a nice guy as well.
I called the phone, it was ringing, and then it finally went off. It's not bat-empty coz I fully charged it. I texted it "maawa po kayo, mura lang po ang cellphone ko at kaisa-isa lang po yan, napakahalaga po sa akin, pakisoli naman po"

but to no avail, no reply, no response.

I cannot blame the person. The Philippines is a poor country, a very, very poor country. Where most people will always think about their own benefit before others. Where it's a dog eat dog world. But is poverty really the cause? Or should pure evil be the one to blame.

Not all poor people are evil. Not all rich people are good. But if I could count the nice people I know, I'm not sure if the ratio would be 10% to 90% (evil)

Why Google Chrome Sucks (for me)

This is a non-makeup posts, which includes me, ranting how google chrome sucks as an open source
browser. Yeah yeah, I got influenced by hubby and his pals that this is "better than firefox".
I'm a big fan of mozzila's browser since it has a lot of useful add ons like the download helper, and
loads my pages fairly well.

So why do I hate Google Chrome much? When used at home, pages that I load, do not load.
It's so strange that it loads if I refresh a couple of times, or restart the browser. I thought
hey, must by my internet connection right? So I tried loading the same page, on firefox, and
google chrome, at the same time.

Guess what? Firefox loaded my page quickly, and succesfuly, while google chrome is still
"trying to load the page" and then timed out.

blech..

The only thing I like about this browser is that it makes me check my personal email
while at the office by its nice proxy add-on, but that's it.

Everything else, sucks.

I'm not the only one who thinks so, other people too.

Here's what they are saying:

Rant: The SWISH Wallet

*I want to express my 200% gratitude on the nicest ebay seller, ms cathy, for allowing me to return this crap, and replace it with the wonderful envirosax instead.

I cannot believe I wasted 300 bucks on a piece of cheap, useless, plastic crap. That's how I abhor this so called "wallet". Reading the reviews, and also the description of the wallet, got me enticed to purchase one for myself. I was looking for a handy wallet that's light, could hold my cards and cash, and I could wear so that I would not carry the usual wallet with loads of stuff.

According to their site:

it's time to replace the old, beat up wallet! swish is the newest in thing that will carry your daily essentials --- bills and cards (i.d., driver's license, credit cards...and even your sd cards!). it is made from a waterproof plastic material that is very slim and can fit your pockets. you can also go handsfree coz it can be worn around your neck (lanyard is provided) ... perfect for school, the beach, clubbing, shopping...and everywhere!

Well this is crap. I gave it a couple of days chance thinking I got a bad stock but NOOOOO. It's loose, I wear it on my neck and it opens automatically making all my cards and cash fall off. When you open it it dislocates making it hard to close. It doesnt SNAP back. It SNAPS back using 200% effort and then a few moves, and its open again, revealing your hard earned cash and cards. It looks, CHEAP. Like it's not worth even a hundred bucks, it looks and smells like cheap plastic shaped oddly like a wallet.

The seller told me I could replace it with a new stock of wallet, thinking I got a bad stock but if what I got was trash, talk about quality control.  I just asked her to get me an envirosax instead (which would be posted on a different topic, I love this bag!)

Review: Kryolan TV Paintstick

I had high expectations to this product due to rave reviews on different forums and blog, but alas I was disappointed, and had better results from low-end makeup brands like Fashion21 (their foundation sticks are HG material, in my opinion of course.)

I got the shade in FS45 which was recommended for those who have NC30 skintones, It was too yellow and a bit too dark for me. (K!!! You're not yellow!!! Hahaha). It had a nice texture, easy to blend, scent is tolerable and there's a lot of product in the tube, but that's where all the nice things end.

It does not have the staying power that most people raved about, It was gone by noon, and redness can be seen throughout my face :( even when set with a good setting powder. It creased, it settled into fine lines, in short it was ugly. You're probably noticing the consecutive rants from moi, well I should rant. Because curiosity killed me. I shouldnt have tried sooo many foundations and concealers when I was already using something that works.

Bright side is, it has good coverage. I tested it on my birthmark and after a couple of layers, I couldnt find where my mark is and had to remove the foundation to check.

Picture of Birthmark:

Picture with Kryolan TVPS:

What I Like

  • Good, excellent coverage.
  • Nice creamy blendable texture
  • Tolerable smell
  • Portable

What I Don't Like

  • No staying power
  • Creased
  • Settled into fine lines
  • Gone by noon

Who will I recommend this to?

I actually dont recommend this one, I just didnt appreciate it :( but hey, what didnt work for me may work for you

Will I repurchase?
Nope. Cinema Secrets gave me better results.. will review that one in a bit *wink*

If you are not registered (just like I am), do check the website if someone else is using your name to vote! A good way to help the country even if we cant vote.

Oil About Oils

A male friend im'ed me this morning with a beauty article. I was surprised since this was your typical male-male person. :p He probably bumped about this on stumbleupon haha!
It's an article with a lot of information with oil selection and your skintype.

I currently use the following oils:

  • Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Rosehip Oil (for my scars/to prevent stretchmarks)

Working With Carrier Oils: How to Select the Right Ingredient For Your Formula

With the popularity of natural skin and hair care on the rise, the variety of ingredients for formulators to choose from has become huge.  As large and varied as it is, it grows constantly.  So how can a formulator know which Carrier Oil to work with?  What differentiates one Carrier Oil from the next?  And which Oils are best for which types of formulas?
Oils
When you browse descriptions of Carrier Oils, you should look for a few key pieces of information.  These main characteristics can help you figure out if an oil is right for your formula.  First, determine the Oil's texture.  Oils can range in texture from very light and easily absorbed, to thick, slow, and greasy.  Lotions and Body Creams can use a range of textures, depending on the desired feel, and adhesion of the recipe.  Sugar and Salt Scrubs often use light to medium textured Oils, while balms and ointments lean toward the heavier textured Oils.  The following list highlights selected Oils from each category:
Light Oils
Medium Oils
Heavy Oils
Another factor in an Oil's texture is it's melting point.  Most Carrier Oils are liquid at room temperature,  but there are several Carrier Oils that remain solid until they reach a certain temperature.  Choosing an Oil with the right melting point can make or break many types of formulations, especially when product texture is important.  The following list highlights some Oils that solidify at high and low melting points.
High Melting Points
Low Melting Points
Another thing to look for when browsing Carrier Oils is the Essential Fatty Acid content.  Essential Fatty Acids are a necessary component for healthy skin, however, our bodies cannot produce them after adulthood.  Supplementing Essential Fatty Acids with diet, and skin care, can help to improve the health and appearance of your skin and hair.  Many natural Carrier Oils are rich in Essential Fatty Acids, but knowing which Fatty Acids to look for can be challenging.  To learn more about Essential Fatty Acids, check out the following article from Beauty by the Batch: Introduction to Essential Fatty Acids.
In addition to Essential Fatty Acids, many Carrier Oils boast additional nutritive properties including vitamins and minerals.  Some Oils even contain natural anti-inflammatory agents, anesthetic properties, or sun protection value.  Read each description carefully, as each ingredient will have its own unique combination of special properties and characteristics.
Finally, pay attention to any notes that mention color or aroma.  While most Carrier Oils yield little to no scent, there are some Oils that do have aroma, ranging from light to pungent.  Often, Fruit or Berry Seed Oils will have a slightly acidic scent.  This comes from their high content of Essential Fatty Acids.

How to Train Your Dragon : A Movie Review

Okay. I admit, This is a non-beauty post. But I just loved this movie so much I had to plug it!
I was hesitant to watch this cartoon movie from Dreamworks because the trailers and sneek previews wasnt enticing enough. Hubby and I did the toss coin trick earlier this day to determine if we will watch it or not.

Heads.

Watch the movie it is.

and you know what?

The movie is awesome!!!! :)

It's way better than Clash of the Titans (weird comparison much?), great script, great characterization, and a story you can actually feel you are part of. There are no "bad" sides to this movie. You can understand the situation of the vikings, and the feelings of Hiccups (the protagonist of the movie).  It has elements both kids and adults can enjoy.

My hubby always, always fall asleep when watching animated features, but he was awake the whole time this movie was running. A good thing.

I wont tell too much to spoil you guys, but this is a movie you have to see. (Best seen in IMAX 3d)

Rant: MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

I usually put different foundations on hubby to try on when he's asleep, and he never had any qualms.
This is the first time he really HATED something that I put on his face. He was all
"hey why does my face feel so heavy" "why is this so sticky" "why is this so itchy"

well everything he said was true.

According to MAC's description, this was supposed to be light and gel-like. But the texture? More mousse-lotion like, very difficult to blend and feels sticky all the way, even when set with a loose powder.

We hated this foundation, besides that it was too dark for my skintone. I got it in NC30 and it was way tooo yellow and tooo dark.. Im starting to think Im an NW25 now. Coverage wise, Legere BB cream has greater coverage than this one. Heck even my F21 stick foundation lasted longer and had better coverage.

Here's a picture of my hubby, half with the MAC foundation on, which he washed of to the bathroom right away.

Can you imagine? He was in a deep sleep and the sticky ickyness woke him up?

Lipstick as Cream Blush: I Forgot to Bring a Blusher Today

Woke up late. Did things uber slow. Had to fix self fast, forgot to bring blush on in kikay kit. Has this ever happened to you? And my husband said I looked too pale and need to put on something. *light bulb flashes*
I remember my mom used to apply lipstick on her cheeks just like you would use a cream blush and it looked okay. I quickly searched my bag and rummaged a NYX Lipstick in Doll applied the lippie, and then using clean fingers. Dabbed product on my cheeks, and blended. Finished up by patting on my pressed powder, and it looked wonderful!!!!

Apologies for the red nose.. It has always been a skin woe of mine :(
Im loving the natural pink flush though :) It's brighter in person. My camera sucks :p

PALITO : An Understated Comedian

I posted this in a forum a few months back.. (December) asking for a plead to networks to give the man a break.
Well, they did.. but it's too late. They just showed him on TV because he's now on the verge of death.
Why are they always like this?
Now, watching SNN and other shows, they are now saying that Palito is one of the greatest comedians and a legend of his time.

Why didnt they give him a chance when he was still able to work.
:(

==========================================
Posted December 2009
I think Palito deserves to be recognized.
He was really funny in his glory days,

today, at 75.. he earns by performing in barangay shows, fiestas, etc to earn a living.

Im not sure if this is the right thread.

But I hope if there are people from ABS or GMA or even ABC
to give him the recognition he deserves.

I bumped into this blogpost

and felt a mixture of sad and happiness

Review: Celeteque Moisturizer (great for hot summer days! and nights!)

I've always been on a lookout for a simple, no-fuss moisturizer that does what it's supposed to do and nothing else. Moisturize. With all the gunk I put on my face daily, I dont need a dose of ingredients that I dont even know, even the "anti-aging" ingredients or "whitening" ingredients that my skin doesnt really need.

Our skin is always thirsty. Even during cold dry days, and even on hot summer days, it craves for moisture. Most people I know think that moisturizer is only needed by peeps who have dry skin, but oily skin needs the same amount of care. When skin does not get enough moisture, it makes up by producing more sebum, thus, oily skin.

As written at the right side of my blog, I have a combination skin, oily t-zone, dry cheeks, and redness.

Celeteque Moisturizer is water based. It's ingredients are wonderful such as aloe, panthenol, and yes even the infamous dimethicone (so those who are looking for a silicon-free moisturizer this is not the one for you)

Dimethicone acts as a barrier and shield between skin, moisturizer, and other layers of gunk you plan to put on your face, thus making celeteque an excellent makeup base.

It feels so light and watery to apply, very refreshing!

Just click the image to enlarge

What I Like

  • It feels so light, like nothing at all
  • It has simple ingredients, nothing more.
  • Does not make my skin oilier
  • Moisturizes! It makes my skin glow the day after if I slather it on at night
  • Ive been using it for 2 weeks now and no breakouts so far
  • Cheap!!!!

What I Don't Like

  • No SPF, but hey, I use a different sunblock anyway :p

Who will I recommend this to?

This is a great summer moisturizer, preferably to those with normal, oily, combo skin. I think drier skin types would need moisturizer power.

Will I repurchase?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Chi Pro Collection Review : Travel Iron and Hair Dryer

This is a very, very, very.... late post since I got this set as a Christmas present from my Auntie last Christmas. I have been using it (especially the hair dryer) ever since. I rarely use the iron since I dont have the time of day to straighten, or curl (yes it curls!) my hair on a daily basis, and Im also afraid of the styling damage it might cause on regular use.

The Chi Pro Set comes with the following tools/products:

  • Travel Iron (dual voltage)
  • Travel Dryer (dual voltage)
  • Shampoos, conditioners, styling products that I gave away or sold off
  • Travel Bag (very useful!)
First on the list is the travel iron, I read in some reviews that this iron does not produce enough heat to straighten extremely kinked hair. Now this is true, it doesnt give as much heat as my inexpensive straighteners bought as SM Watson's. BUT what I love about this is it's so light to use, it doesnt give my arms stress even when curling or straightening my long hair. I have regular wavy hair and this does the job, it glides on smoothly, and the round edges makes it work as a lovely hair curler. It also indicates that it uses infrared heat to seal in shine and moisture.

This is the product my hubby and I love!!! It dries hair quick! And makes hair styling easy! It's also very compact and neatly folds itself once done using. We never encountered any trouble like too much heat that hurts our hair but it works the same. We gave away our old hair dryer since it takes a lot of time just to dry the hair but with the Chi, it only takes a few. The sad thing is it only has "high heat" and "low heat" setting. I'm still looking for a dryer that has a "cool" setting to set my hair style.

All in all, this is a very nice package to get especially for those people who just want the basic tools.

Alternative Head Lice Treatments

When your regular anti-lice shampoo just wont work on your kid, or on yourself  (yeah sometimes when it gets too warm and you're always outside, adults can catch it too! eww *sob* )

Funny that when I was a kid, I'm always playing on the streets outside with neighbor kids, and  yes, I get the occasional lice during summer. My mom would by "kwell" but time came when it just didnt work anymore. The lice still stayed there, bouncing around sipping my blood happily. Gross I know.

Then I remember, mom would resort to pouring beer all over my hair and leave it on until it is dry. Then rinse it off afterwards. Lice are dead! All dead! And she would use a fine tooth comb to remove those icky dead creatures.

Did you know that beer is a good treatment for lice? Besides that, it's also good for our hair. It makes it shinier, bouncier, and more volumized! The smell doesnt last long and will wash away once rinsed off.

Another alternative is pure cane vinegar (which is also great for our hair mind you) the scent is milder than synthetic vinegar and will be gone once dried out.

Be careful in putting though it might get into your kids' eye and it will sting!
