I'm a fan of Japanese brand mascaras because of how they make my lashes long, volumized, and curly. But boy oh boy when they say it's waterproof, weather proof, smudge proof, all-proof, IT REALLY IS!
Some are even oil proof! So your cleansing milks and oils wont budge the sucker without harshly rubbing your eyes. *ouch*

Now how do I remove my mascaras?

Yup. I think they should indicate this on their packaging as well!

I dip my cotton ball or pad on to a tub of warm water.. press it gently on my lashes (eyes closed please) and gently smooth away the mascara.. You can see bits sliding off and dont be scared! Theyre not your lashes! Theyre the mascara gunk!

Warm water removal is also beneficial for our eyes at it can sooth eyebags and relax our eye tissue.
See my other post here regarding warm compress for eyebags
I gained 7lbs in the last few weeks and Im a whopping 107lbs (last week) because I keep on eating and eating. For example a couple of weeks ago, I ate at yaki-mix, and then at circles, and then pancake house, and all other sorts of fastfood joints like KFC and kept on eating like a deprived kid. The difference between hunger and craving is that when you are hungry,  you can eat anything. When youre craving you just need to eat that something. Know the difference, and it will help a lot in planning your meals (like what I want to do today)

If you’re like most people, you might have trouble controlling your weight. Or maybe it’s under control, but it won’t go down to where you’d like it to be.

I just have to rave about this... I used to forcefully eat these crackers when "dieting" (yeah who am I kidding? alternating foodie review posts with weight loss posts HAHA)
it tastes blander than the original crackers but still consumable.

I purchased a pack again at 7-11 and while I was munching, I told myself.. it tastes good..  like cookies..
and I kept munching and munching.. its actually delicious, like a cookie-fita hybrid with all the oat and fiber goodness.. it tasted more, buttery and has the "umami" taste.. no calorie or fat difference though thank goodness..

I said is it because Im drinking oolong tea and it enhanced the flavor of the crackers? Nope..

When I checked the label... it said "Improved Taste".. Well improve the taste they did! I'll find myself buying another pack downstairs and munching it on the way home...

(Again this is not a sponsored ad, this is impromptu and I am still nibbling on these crackers haha)

The  Devil & the Duck

There was a  little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.

He  was given a slingshot to play without in the woods.

He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target.

Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was  walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck..

Just out of  impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it.

He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic,  he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his
Sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch  the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes'

But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.'

Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?'

So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that  day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, 'I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.'

Sally just  smiled and said, 'well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help?

She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he
finally couldn't stand it any longer.

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know... You see,  I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but  because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long  you would let Sally make a slave of you.'

Thought for  the day and every day thereafter:

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)....whatever it is...

You need to know that:
God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He has seen your whole life... He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness;  He not only forgives you, but He forgets.

It is by  God's grace and mercy that we are saved.

Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today.

Share this with a friend and always remember:

God is at the window!

Being a tea drinker.. or more of a tea-addict.. from steeped to packs to powdered to packaged to bottled to commercial teas like serenitea, chatime, and my all time fave.. My daily milk tea drinking is beginning to drain my budget. Then.. I remember when I was pregnant and had tea cravings at our office, there was..

7-11.. Haha! The only milk tea it has is MineShine's and it's no poor substitute either, it's one of the better milk teas I had and priced at 40php for a 500ml bottle, not bad. I especially love it when I put it in the freezer for a couple of hours and drink it semi-frozen.

I can taste the tea very well and the subtle barley, it is not too sweet, not too milky.. just perfect!

So for those craving milk tea FAST, just go grab a bottle of MineShine at 7-11

(no this is not a paid post.. :) I hope it was though hehe)

As a self confessed semi-comicbook geek, I can't wait for the final Batman movie by Chris Nolan, which is the best film version of batman ever. BUT for the catwoman role, nobody did it better then Michelle Pfeifer... she is catwoman. I wonder if Anne Hathaway has what it takes to be catwoman?  Catwoman is my favorite character in batman and I hope I can do cosplay as her someday :p

Here's a first look on Anne Hathaway, in her cat suit

Okay.. I'll ask you, straight to the point! What can you buy with 88 pesos? Hmm a KFC snack meal? 1-pc chicken at Jolibee? Load? haha.. can't think of any at that time.. but being blessed to have been chosen as one of the partners of HBC, When Chic Hits the Pan has been privileged to go on an 88-peso shopping spree at HBC. Oh and it's a first time as well!

(Yes.. HBC is on an 88-peso sale and you MUST MUST MUST go there FAST as it's up to August 21 only, and I tell you, you won't regret visiting a store and you will go home with an item or two, or three, or even 24)

I wasn't expecting much really, since first thing that comes into my mind when it comes to sales like these is:
1. Products about to expire
 2. Unsaleable products
3. Get rid of old stocks fast!

But at HBC they displayed:
1. Generally new stocks with expiration dates of 2013-2014
2. Best sellers
3. A lot of choices

It may look teeny, but there are treasures in this lot

It was a pleasant surprise when I was greeted cheerfuly by the sales lady and directed me to the 88-peso counter and I was amazed with the selection of items in offer. From cosmetics ranging from their latest foundations, mascaras, lipsticks, and yes the mousse collection that I've been raving about in this previous post is up for grabs at 88php. For the skincare they have a wide range available from scrubs, lotions, to hair removers. For the parloristas out there, don't miss the hair dyes, gels, colors, waxes, shampoos, conditioners, and hair treatments. Whew....

My basket of 88php and 44php goodies

I need to  choose worth 2,000php of 88php and 44php items (it's a bonus, did you know that their milk spf20 is only 44php). I went to the register with this basket and they told me I need to get 6 more! and I thought it was too much. They went bottom low with 88php because most of the products costs above 200php!

No this is not on sale. I bought this on a whim because this is one of the great best finds I could recommend you it's so deliciously moisturizing and it's a lip color mind you.

A happy, haggard no-makeup tired self. :)
Oops.. sorry to the guy who was having his diamond peel behind me! Hehe.. Watch out for my next post where I'll post the items I got individually.

HURRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got to hurry though it's up to August 21 only!!! *panics* It won't disappoint you!! HBC branches are everywhere so go and visit one NOW!

I have had numerous encounters with cab drivers all over Metro Manila. I am probably the most unfortunate cab passenger there is in the metro. From being overcharged to almost getting assaulted–name it and I’ve experienced it. My friends actually aren’t surprised anymore everytime they read a Facebook post from me sharing another cab incident. They have gotten so used to it that seeing another cab post from me isn’t new anymore. My sister, on the other hand, already declared that she will never take public transportation with me, fearing that she would also get into trouble because of my misfortunes. But since I am a person, who just lets things pass after a day of ranting and cussing because of these cabs, I just forget about them. I am still alive anyway and my life, among other things, is what I am more concerned about.

I normally take a cab when going to work. I am a Quezon City girl working in Makati. Going to work has always been such a pain. I’ve tried braving the MRT in the morning, but I only got squeezed to death. I’ve tried taking the jeepney, but all I got was a bubble gum stuck on my top’s collar, thanks to some prick who eventually stole my mobile phone. I don’t really mind the pricey fare; what matters more to me is getting to my destination alive.

Yesterday was just another normal Friday. One of our helpers went with me to help me get a cab. God knows how hard it is to get one on a weekday. Surprisingly yesterday, a cab was already waiting at that area where I usually wait. The driver, a thin dark-skinned guy in his mid-20s, was signaling me to get in the cab. I told him where my destination is. He was willing to take me to Makati, but he told me that the cab is not calibrated yet, so he kindly asked for an additional PhP40. I thought it was just okay, so I said yes. When I got in the cab, I told him to take the Santolan-EDSA route. He wanted to take the C5 route, but I insisted on taking the former. Despite the heavy traffic, I feel safer there because of the huge number of vehicles taking EDSA. He did not argue with me anymore and just took the route that I told him to take.

I nicely engaged him in a conversation. I asked him why the cab isn’t calibrated yet and told him that he may get shortchanged if he doesn’t get it calibrated. He just told me that the owner has not fixed it yet. I asked him how many of their cabs are not calibrated. He said there’s two of them.

While we were along Katipunan Avenue en route to Boni Serrano Extension, I saw him getting something from his right pocket and then sprayed it in the cab’s aircondition. It smelled like powder to me. I thought it was just nothing, so I didn’t mind him. He did this several times while looking at me in the rearview mirror. I caught him several times looking at me. It felt like he was waiting for something to happen to me. I was weirded out by what he was doing so I texted my mom the cab’s name and plate number (LADY ALLEN NYT618). I do not usually do this when I take the cab in the morning; I just do this at night. Being a constant victim of heartless and rude cab drivers, I familiarized myself with the different modi operandi used by cab drivers to catch their preys. Unfortunately for me, this was one of them.

I tried sniffing to see if I would feel something weird. I thought I was just being paranoid. The driver repeatedly sprayed while watching me in his rearview mirror. When we finally got to Boni Serrano, nearing Santolan, the scent got stronger and stronger. It was hurting my nose and head so much that it was already making me dizzy and shaky. When I started shaking, I told the driver immediately to pull over because I will go down. He did not dare say a word and stopped the cab. I did not start any argument. In my mind, I needed to get out of the cab and save myself from a possible holdup, or worse, rape. I was shaking so bad that I could not even hold my money properly. They all fell from my wallet. It started raining hard that moment I stepped out of hell. The moment I got out of it, I called my mom and told her what happened. I asked her to pick me up.

I posted what happened on Facebook. A former colleague commented and said that she had a bad experience with a LADY ALLEN cab (TWH933) last Friday evening (July 29). She chatted with me and narrated her story. She lives in Valenzuela, so she took the cab after a night-out with her friends. Just like me, she also engaged the driver in a conversation to gauge how safe she will be in his hands. After a few minutes of chit-chat, the driver asked for her number and unhesitatingly invited her to have sex with him. She was so scared that she pretended to call her husband telling him to wait for her. The moment she saw a guy waiting on the roadside, she went out of the cab.

After what happened to me and my friend, I came up with these assumptions:
1. Upon learning what happened, an officemate told me that a warning text message criculated a few years back about that same cab that I took (LADY ALLEN NYT618)warning people of its modus operandi. I feel that LADY ALLEN has been gone for a while, hence the uncalibrated meter.
2. The two uncalibrated cabs, which the driver was referring to was probably my cab (LADY ALLEN NYT618) and my friend’s cab (TWH933).
3. The driver did not argue with me anymore when I told him to pull over because he probably thought I already know what he was doing. We were not even halfway my destination, but I decided to go down because I caught him several times looking at me while he was spraying the thing in the aircondition.

I am very grateful that I had presence of mind when this horrible incident happened. I was still sane enough to stop the cab despite the indescribable fear and panic that I felt during this horrifying moment. I am also thankful that I decided not to plug in my iPod’s earphones and just observed the driver instead.

I have no idea if the cab driver was able to victimize anyone yesterday, but I sincerely hope that he was not successful in hurting anyone. I will do all the necessary actions to ensure that what happened to me and my friend will not happen to anyone again. I am also calling out everyone to always be alert anywhere you go. Things like this are inevitable. The least we can do is shield ourselves from predators out there waiting for their prey to fall on their hands.

I am tagging my friends from the media. Please help me in warning your loved ones and friends about the abovementioned cabs. I seriously hope this will be of help to everyone.
I believe in their tagline "What's best for baby is best for you". If the product can be deemed safe for an infant's use, it couldn't possibly do any harm to our skin can it?

This little discovery happened after I got so tired of trying out different over the counter commercial facial washes that promised this and promised that but nadda. Either broke me out or made my skin dull or more sensitive. I was giving my baby a bath when I began to wash my face with his ever so trusty J&J Baby Bath (the blue one) , be warned though, the Pink one gave him rashes.

My skin did not feel dry after rinsing, but it felt clean. I've been using this wash as a part of my regimen for a month now and I'm very pleased with the improvement of my skin tone and texture.

What's great about it is that it can be a cheaper alternative for Cetaphil and such because a huge bottle is around 50PHP only. And for those who want a little more "brightening" and "lightening" try out their Milk bath's too :)

Braised for 10 Hours? Really Now? 350PHP
Being a penchant for Japanese food, I was ecstatic to know that I was invited for lunch by Ms. Cathy from Vitapack Philippines at KAI restaurant at Greenbelt 5. Now I was supposed to review the other food like the dragonroll (which was delicious and addictive I tell ya) and the tuna sashimi (fresh fresh fresh). I only got the picture of the Buta Kakuni because we ate the sushi dishes so fast I did not get the change to take photos haha. (Soooo hungry)

I got the Buta Kakuni as my main course because I read several foodie sites saying that when meat is slow cooked it becomes so tender and flavorful. I was salivating while reading their reviews so I ordered this right away.

It tasted like ordinary pork asado to my tastebuds. It didn't feel like it was cooked slowly for 10 hours because while the meat isn't tough, it is not tender either and pork is easier to tenderize than beef mind you, and I had more tender beef at Jo-Em's Malate.

I will probably eat at KAI again but for the other dishes, not this one.

The first of a series of 4. I chopped them down to different segments as I found the information from their site very useful

What makes Me Me and You You?

This is the question that is at the heart of the genetic puzzle. It is also central to our exploration of blood types. The key is genetic heritage - the story line of your life. Even though you are living in the 21st century, you share a common bond with your ancestors. The genetic information that resulted in their particular characteristics has been passed on to you.

People who are O blood type have a different set of characteristics than people who are Type B or Type A - they are susceptible to different diseases, they should eat different foods and exercise in a completely different manner. Some believe that personality is influenced by blood type! Dr. D'Adamo, author of the best selling books Eat Right for Your Type andLive Right for Your Type, among others, gives us a blueprint for living in his books. Read on to learn more about the Type O individual.

The Blood Type O Individualized Lifestyle

Why are some people plagued by poor health while others seem to live healthy, vital lives even late in life? Does blood type influence personality? A single drop of blood contains a biochemical make up as unique as your fingerprint. Your blood type is a key to unlocking the secrets to your biochemical individuality. Foods and supplements contain lectins that interact with your cells depending on your blood type. This explains why some nutrients which are beneficial to one blood type, may be harmful to the cells of another. Dr. Peter D’Adamo, the author of the best selling books Eat Right for Your Type and Live Right for Your Type gives Type O’s some tips on leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Type O Profile

Type O was the first blood type, the type O ancestral prototype was a canny, aggressive predator. Aspects of the Type O profile remain essential in every society even to this day – leadership, extroversion, energy and focus are among their best traits. Type O’s can be powerful and productive, however, when stressed Type O’s response can be one of anger, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. When Type O wiring gets crossed, as a result of a poor diet, lack of exercise, unhealthy behaviors or elevated stress levels, Type O’s are more vulnerable to negative metabolic effects, including insulin resistance, sluggish thyroid activity, and weight gain. When you customize your life to Type O’s strengths you can reap the benefits of your ancestry. Your genetic inheritance offers you the opportunity to be strong, lean, productive, long-lived and optimistic.

What Makes You Unique

As a Blood Type O you may be predisposed to certain illnesses, such as ulcers and thyroid disorders. In the 1950’s it was discovered that Type O’s had about twice the instances of ulcers of all kinds than the other blood types. These findings have been replicated many times since then. Type O’s tend to have low levels of thyroid hormone and often exhibit insufficient levels of iodine, a chemical element whose sole purpose is thyroid hormone regulation. This causes many side effects such as weight gain, fluid retention and fatigue. Dr. D’Adamo does not recommend iodine supplements, rather a diet rich in saltwater fish and kelp to help regulate the thyroid gland. Bladder Wrack is also an excellent nutrient for type O’s. This herb, actually a seaweed, is very effective as an aid to weight control for Type O’s. “The fucose in bladder wrack seems to help normalize the sluggish metabolic rate and produce weight loss in Type O’s,” says Dr. D’Adamo.

Type O’s also have a higher level of stomach acid than the other blood types, which often results in stomach irritation and ulcers. Dr. D’Adamo recommends a licorice preparation called DGL (de glycyrrhizinated licorice) which can reduce discomfort and aid healing. DGL protects the stomach lining in addition to protecting it from stomach acids. Avoid crude licorice preparations as they contain a component of the plant which can cause elevated blood pressure. This component has been removed in DGL. Dr. D'Adamo also recommends Mastic Gum and Bismuth to soothe Type O's common and even frequent tummy troubles.

Type O Personality?

In Japan, blood type has long been associated with personality type. You might well be asked your blood type on a job interview! In an independent study of 45 MBA students, Type O’s most often described themselves in ways related to the following characteristics; responsible, decisive, organized, objective, rule-conscious, and practical. Both male and female Type O’s reported a higher percentage of the mesomorphic body type when compared to controls. Interestingly, Type O’s also scored significantly higher than the rest in “sensing” – using the 5 senses to gather information, and in the sensing-thinking combination, indicating that they are more detail and fact oriented, logical, precise and orderly. “I believe that the tendency to sense and get facts right stems from the inbred hunter-gatherer need to observe and accurately assess the environment in order to insure survival.” Says D’Adamo.

Manage Your Type O Stress

The legacy of your Type O ancestry causes an immediate “fight or flight” response in people of this blood type. However, this finely tuned response to stress, so vital in early Type O’s, is not always so beneficial in modern times. The Type O response can cause bouts of excessive anger, temper tantrums, hyperactivity and even create a severe enough chemical imbalance to bring about a manic episode. Since there is a powerful, synergistic relationship between the release of dopamine and feelings of reward, Type O is more vulnerable to destructive behaviors when overly tired, depressed or bored. These can include gambling, sensation seeking, risk taking, substance abuse and impulsivity. To avoid becoming overstressed, Dr. D’Adamo recommends following the Type O diet, which focuses on lean, organic meats, vegetables and fruits and avoid wheat and dairy which can be triggers for digestive and health issues in Type O. Additionally, he suggests that Type O’s avoid caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine can be particularly harmful because of its tendency to raise adrenaline and noradrenaline, which are already high for Type O’s.

Energize - The Essential Exercise Component

Type O’s benefit tremendously from brisk regular exercise that taxes the cardiovascular and muscular skeletal system. But the benefit derived surpasses the goal of physical fitness. Type O also derives the benefit of a well timed chemical release system. The act of physical exercise releases a swarm of neurotransmitter activity that acts as a tonic for the entire system. The Type O who exercises regularly also has a better emotional response. You are more emotionally balanced as a result of well regulated, efficient chemical transport system. More than any other blood type, O’s rely on physical exercise to maintain physical health and emotional balance. Dr. D’Adamo suggests that Type O’s engage in regular physical activity three to four times per week. For best results, engage in aerobic activity for thirty to forty five minutes at least four times per week. If you are easily bored, choose two or three different exercises and vary your routine.

Live Right!

In addition to exercising and eating foods that are Right For Your Type, here are a few key lifestyle strategies for Type O individuals:

  • Develop clear plans for goals and tasks – annual, monthly, weekly, daily to avoid impulsivity.
  • Make lifestyle changes gradually, rather than trying to tackle everything at once.
  • Eat all meals, even snacks, seated at a table.
  • Chew slowly and put your fork down between bites of food.
  • Avoid making big decisions or spending money when stressed.
  • Do something physical when you feel anxious.
  • Engage in thirty to forty five minutes of aerobic exercise at least four times per week.
  • When you crave a pleasure releasing-substance (alcohol, tobacco, sugar), do something physical.

Dr. D’Adamo recommends that Type O, “Approach this program as a long term strategy. This is not a short term goal, rather a lifestyle that you adapt for a lifetime of health and well being. There is no doubt that there is a connection between the mind and the body. The knowledge that we can do something to change our genetic destiny is powerful.”

Please bring Bourjois to the Philippines

As always, I want my readers to view the FULL ingredients list :)

At the back of my hand, the texture is very satin

Got this one from anothe girltalker greenpease05 from her HK Pre-Orders. It's a drugstore brand of makeup which is made in france, and according to popular rumors, same cosmetics manufacturer as Chanel Cosmetics.

Which is probably why they have a lot of things that are similar from blushes to the texture and quality of foundation. I got this one due to a lot of positive reviews.

So is it worth it? Yes yes yes

Me wearing only the foundation as my makeup, see how glowy it looks without looking makeupy

Why I like Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
  • It really does not break me out
  • Has the most natural ethereal finish I ever experienced in a liquid foundation
  • Get the right shade and it would make you look you have perfect skin, (but not look like youre wearing makeup)
  • It did last 10 hours on me
  • Very moisturizing
  • It has a satin luxurious feel upon application, it's very easy to blend too
  • Coverage is buildable without being cakey
  • Packaging is a very convinient plastic airtight pump which goes up and up and pushes the product up as you go along.
  • Affordable
What I don't like about it
It's not readily available in the Philippines!!!!!

Will I buy again?

Girls, when I say this is holy grail material for me.. this is holy grail material for me! I have made several reviews on foundations already and this is the first time that I have to say this is HG material

Haha! Such a kid in me :)

I finally rode an elephant on an Indonesia quick trip weekend at Nirwana Garden's Resort at Bintan (which is an hour away from Singapore via Ferry)

Me using clean and clear's grapefruit film to ease my sea-sickness
The hotel staff performed a musical number upon our arrival

The beach was nice, the water was clear and the sand were fine

Though it may appear delicious, it isnt, the buger was too salty and they just microwaved the bun making it as hard as a rock

The other tourists :)

The food from the dinner buffet at 38SGD per head

The elephants at the show

How about you? Do you have any adventures in mind?
:) I might get an idea or two or more for my bucket list

Ahem ahem.. I tried a lot of lenses already, freshlook, geo, dolly, angel, ash wing, honey wing, and most of them can last 3-4 hours on my eye without making my eye feel heavy or get that dry blurry feeling (even with eyedrops yep yep)

And most even make me look like an "aswang" haha because it's unnatural. I've been searching high and low for lenses that will give me the following:
