Tutorial: Yakult & Mung Bean Mask

Most of my readers requested a step by step tutorial with measurements and pictures on how to make the "Yakult Mask". Here you go *wink*.

For more information on the wonderful effects of the Yakult Mask
Ingredients:
  • Yakult (or any lactobacillus drink)
  • Mung Bean Powder (I used Mung Bean Mask from Kuan Yuan bought from sasa.com)
Process:

Use around a tablespoon of mung bean starch

Mix everything into a paste and apply on your face just like a mask.

Wait until it is dry, just like this, like a thin film is on your face O_O

Rinse off with water, and water only! :)

Instant Effect: Skin brightening, acne drying
Long Term Effect:: Pore size appearance reduced, redness minimizing, acne gone! :) Glowy skin!

Hope this helps! Thank you so much!

DIY: Make your Own Lip Plumping Gloss

Now some people want to have thin lips, some people want to have thick lips. But I really find it attractive when a person has this naturally plump kissable lips. Think Angelina Jolie.

So I did a little bit of researching and here's a nice recipe I've found over at

http://cosmetics.suite101.com/

Ingredients:
  • Small jar with lid
  • Vaseline
  • Bee’s wax or Chapstick
  • Ground Ginger
  • Ground Cayenne or Red Pepper
  • Peppermint Extract

Take about a teaspoon of Vaseline and mix it with half a teaspoon of bee’s wax (or use two tubes of Chapstick). Start with small amounts and mix the ginger and cayenne. These products will cause a stinging sensation but really helps with the plumping affect. Add one to two drops of the Peppermint Extract. The peppermint gives the gloss a cool and fresh flavor. But don’t use too much!

Rice Water Toner

I got this idea from Michelle Phan at youtube and decided to give it a shot. I just do not know when the expiration date is so I throw away the liquid and replace it with a new mixture every 2 days. I also store it in the fridge.

Based from her youtube video, rice has essential vitamins and minerals that can benefit the skin. My grandma also used to  use rice steam to make her skin glowy so I guess it should work. But this is tiring to make and I would just prefer buying ready  made toners at the mall. Haha.

But for those who are interested. Here are the steps:

Using organic rice (any would do just make sure it is organic and clean!) clean your rice, mix mix mix and you should get a cloudy water out of this. Oops! Dont throw it away! This cloudy water has the one with the nutrients in it!

Transfer this cloudy water in a clean bottle. I use the one with the spray so I can easily spray it on the cotton pad.

There you go! Your own rice water toner. Please make sure to store this in a cool place so it doesnt go bad quickly. I dont rinse after using this, I just pat out and dry the excess on my skin to absorb.

Review: Only used this for a week and I didnt see very visible effects. It did not clean or anything but it did not make me break out either. I'm too lazy to always concoct this mixture so I stopped using it anyway. It felt cool and refreshing on the skin, I think it made my skin  less dull

How I Shape My Brows & Geo Magic Lenses

I used to have it done at BrowHaus but it costs 500php a pop so it's kinda pricey for simple threading. Sometimes I end up with too sparse brows or still look messy. I did a lot of research and come up with a perfect way for me, to shape my brows the way I want it to be.

All we need is a nice white eyeliner and tweezers!

*pluck* *pluck* *pluck*

As you can see the lines of both ends end in equal height and then right above the iris is the highest arch of the brow. There are a lot of brow shapes available to try so just draw em on and pluck!
For those who arent sure of the shape, you can purchase brow templates that is commonly used and use that as a stencil.
PS
I already filled my brows with wax and brow powder, will make a tutorial for that very soon

Im wearing GEO CK 107 from MyAppleEyes! They sell original Japanese and Korean contact lenses at the best prices! They ship fast and theyre very honest and kind sellers as well! CK 107 turns out to be one of my favorite ones because of how natural they look but enhance my eyes making them appear bright and happy.

DIY: Homemade Eyeshadow Primer (Simplest Formula!)

As my pot of my HG eyeshadow primer ran out *sob* and have no replacement because Art Deco is discontinued in our country, I  have to makeshift and search for another HG by ordering online. But since I do not have the time of day and Im trying to save more budget. I decided to experiment and try if a homemade eyeshadow primer can work.

and you know what? I think it did!

Materials Needed:
  1. A cotton bud with the tip cut off for mixing
  2. Any HD finishing powder or silica
  3. Liquid or Cream Foundation
  4. Container
Instructions:
  1. Squeeze an ample amount of foundation in your container, about half the pot
  2. Put your powder together with the foundation in the container, I used 1/8 tsp.
  3. Mix until you get a nice airy and mousse like consistency
  4. Tada!
Eyeshadow Freshly Applied

  Left Eye: With Primer
Right Eye: Without Primer

After 8 Hours

It's probably not the best primer around but it certainly works! The mixture definitely controlled the sebum on my left eye and made my shadow last longer and melt slower. But of course, when I get the chance, I would still use a commercial primer like Art Deco or UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion)

DIY : Yakult Mask

Disclaimer: I asked full permission to re-post her testimonial and pictures. Thanks Diceey! :)

Testimonial by Diceey - Soompier:

I just thought i would like to share this. hopefully this would help some people out.

I've been suffering from acne for a while now- but it got so severe in the past year. I felt so horrible and it was disgusting to look at myself in the mirror. Acne really hurts self esteem and it just seems like nothing could ever fix my face. I've tried SO many products in hope of fixing my acne but some of them just made it worse. BUT a few months ago, my grandma introduced me to this random and weird homemade mask that was suppose to be miraculous and amazing. and it was ! trust me, when i first heard of it, it was just.. weird. So i've been using this for about 2 months, about 3 times a week and it made a huge difference in my skin. i feel a lot better and less self concious.
Of course, i'm also using products to wash my face and such- ( that also helped a lot! ) (: I did also use the clinique three step acne kit... it wasn't that great, but it did stop my acne for a while. I have really really oily skin and that kit just basically took all the oil out of my face and made it completely dry (but i didn't break out). I sort of liked the kit but it ran out really fast and the moisturizer really stung my face. I guess I just had really sensitive skin. I just gave up on that since it was a bit too pricey for only 2 month's worth. So i've switched to neutrogena deep cleanser and been using it for a month. it is AMAZING. <3 it just cleans all the dirt and oil out of my pores and my skin never felt so clean and smooth. i dont know if this works for all skin types though because when i checked online, there were a lot of mixed reviews but i think its definitely worth a try. and i've also been using witch hazel as a toner-- it smells really bad at first though; but it's gentle and doesn't irritate my skin at all.

but basically, the most important thing is: dont pop those pimples. dont scratch, or touch your face no matter how much you would like to, it'll leave scars and spread the bacteria. and of course, drink a lot of water (: eat healthy and lay off the chips. those things would definately make a huge difference.
okay, im starting to ramble on and on-- so i'd like to post some pictures and show you the difference!

OH and if anybody's interested, the ingredients to the masks are simple. I live in an Asian community so the ingredients are easily purchased. I dont know the exact amount to mix in since I just eyeball it, but basically you would want a paste-like substance.
all you need is two ingredients: yakult and mung bean starch/flour ( sorry, i dont have a picture of the packet ): but i think it could be purchased at any asian market. )

KC -> For those who cannot find the mung bean flour, I order mine at Sasa.com or Bobodave.com
Or if you cannot buy online, I just drink some yakult and then the left over poured on a cotton pad.. and used as a liquid mask instead ;)

okay, here comes the pictures! sorry if it's .. really disgusting.

it started clearing up eventually. and now, these are the most recent pictures.

GrapeSeed for Dark Circles

Now I know only water therapy (if puffiness is caused by stress etc) or surgery can cure eye puffiness. But I have tried this for a year and it did, it really did lessen my dark circles significantly, even if I always stay up late at night. It took only a month for me to see visible results.

However I stopped doing this because I ran out of grapeseed oil and got too lazy to purchase my stock. It turned dark again after a couple of months of late nights haha.

Join me as I begin my grapeseed oil undereye treatment again, I will start this when I get my oil and will post weekly update of pictures.

I learned this from e-how.com

Instructions:
Buy cosmetic-grade grape seed oil and apply it directly under your eyes to help lessen dark circles. Cosmetic-grade grape seed oil is available at most health food stores. Smooth two or three drops directly on your dark circles, and leave overnight.

You could also intake grapeseed supplements and it also helps too.

HELP! - I need a supplier of cosmetic grade grapeseed oil (in small bottles only and payment thru BPI bank deposit only, please leave a message here, no multiply sites please my multiply is blocked). It would also be nice if I could try it out for free, just kidding :)

--
I kaycee0307 aka K, solemnly swear that I would not purchase any cosmetic product for 1 whole month, and would alternately do this every other month.

Starting.. today!

--
Note: Does not include pre-orders with 50% left to be payed next week haha, and other orders made within the past that has not arrived yet.

--

I think this is do-able.. 1 month is a great start! maybe afterwards I could go no-buy for 2 months.. then 3.. great way to start saving up too!

Tutorial: Revlon Colorstay Foundation Tips and Tricks

Okay, I'm not going to make another review of Revlon Colorstay since there are already a LOT you can find online. But! Here's a trick on how to make this work for people like me who doesnt need a whole lotta coverage but want to maximize its staying power and finish.

How?
  1. Mix 50% foundation with 50% of your favorite!untinted moisturizer or primer or sunscreen on a clean ceramic bowl or plate or CD! (see tips below)
  2. Apply as usual
  3. Spot treat your acne (if you have) with a concealer brush and blend.
  4. Buff buff buff blend blend blend
  5. End result is a natural finish that has perfect coverage but will let your skin breath

I usually apply this with disposable sponges that can be bought from almost anywhere and then after applying, I buff with either a stippling or a flat top brush to give me that airbrushed finish.

Tips

  • Don't waste product! Use a CD as your mixing plate, simply pour the amount you need and start from there. Make sure you clean the CD well before and after use. Will not absorb unlike your hands! I know you have lots of CDs you want to throw away.. Try and recycle one ;) You can use this as a mixing palette for lippies and other makeups as well
  • Less is more. If you are having a good skin day. Simply spot conceal, and apply a light layer just to even out your skin tone.
  • Make your blushes and eyeshadows last a LOT longer. Simply apply your makeup immediately after this foundation (dont wait for it to completely dry) and then set with a finishing powder. Trust me.
  • Don't want to break out? A good primer will do the trick to act as a barrier. I use Baby Spa VCO liquid powder

EVOO Your Way To Lush Lashes

Update Feb 24 2010: I ran out EVOO for more than a month and my lashes went back to short normal. I think this is a maintainance thing that you have to do forever to maintain the long lashes!
:( Need to buy EVOO!

My testament. I have been doing this for over a month now and it really works. To bad I do not have a before/after picture of my own to show you guys. It grew a lot thicker and longer.

Before:

After:

1. Clean your face.
2. Pour some Extra Virgin Olive Oil ( EVOO) into a small cup/cap
3. Take a Q-Tip and dip it into the EVOO.
4. With the saturated tip, rub the EVOO onto your eyelashes as you would do or mascara. Don't put so much on that it is dripping but so much as you can see the oil glistening.

I got the idea from beauty101's post:

http://community.livejournal.com/beauty101/9301112.html

Thank you so much! I didnt have to spend thousands of pesos to have lush lashes.

Sea Salt Treatment for Acne

*Disclaimer: I only use this as spot treatment and not to the whole face. Please check if you have allergies.

Oops! Don't pop that pimple yet!

I have been sharing this tip to friends, relatives, and acquaintances at message boards, and I would like to share this to everyone! :) It is the cheapest, yet most effective acne spot treatment that I have tried!

What?
Do you notice that everytime you go to the beach and take a swim, after rinsing out your skin looks smooth glowing and fresh? It's because pure sea salt have essential minerals for the skin that sometimes is put in expensive creams.

How?

1. You need the following:
  • Sea Salt - Please use only sea salt, not rock, not iodized.
  • Purified or Mineral Water
  • Mixing Dish or Cup - Preferably ceramic, and CLEAN
  • Q-tip/ Cotton Swab

2. Mix in 2 tablespoons of sea salt and 1  tablespoon of water in the mixing dish

3.  Dip in your q-tip in the salt water mixture

4. Apply to spots, with slight pressure, careful it stings a little!

5. Leave overnight

When you wake up, your pimples should have dried. And when it is healed, it will leave no scar.

;)
