Maybelline Gigi Hadid Eye Contour Palette Review

I’m a huge fan of micropalettes. You know? Those small palettes that has just the right colors you need and will not take up so much space in your makeup kit. I first saw this Eye Contour Palette in one of Gigi Hadid’s Maybelline Tutorial on youtube. She basically used her fingers and a small contour brush to do the whole eye makeup look. I already have a lot of similar colors from her warm palette that’s why I chose to review the cool one instead.

Packaging. The makeup is enclosed in a sleek but sturdy cardboard packaging. There’s something about card boards that sort of avoids breakage when dropped. Sadly the entire thing 2.5 grams and when you do the math it turns out to be quite pricey. The eye shadows are too narrow and challenging to work with.

Powder and Pigment. I was expecting chalkiness coming from a drugstore makeup with a celebrity collab. But I was surprised that the color in the pan matches exactly when swatched. It has pretty good color payoff and pigment. It blends like a dream and all colors work well with each other. I think this is the part where Gigi placed her thoughts into her products. The eye shadow is not tightly packed so when using a brush or fingers expect some fallout and dusting. I recommend tapping the brush first before applying your lids to avoid mess.

Staying Power. I didn’t use any primer when I tested out the product and the colors stayed on my oily lids for a good 3 and  a half hours. It faded but it did not separate so my eye makeup still looked decent even without retouching.

Final Thoughts. Despite the mixed reviews on the internet, I say this one’s a YEAH for me. I like keeping handy palettes and the colors are easy to work with. It can take me from a good daytime look, to a smokey eye when I feel like it.

How about you? What have you tried from Gigi’s Collection with Maybelline and is it a YEAH or a MEH? I’ll be reviewing her CC cushion up next so keep visiting my blog for more ^_^
