Ellana Cream to Powder Foundation Review

First of all, I’m sorry. Why? Because I wanted to love the Ellana Cream to Powder Foundation so bad. For reference I’m in my mid-30’s and have a light-medium olive complexion with combination skin.

Description

This smooth and supple cream blends seamlessly into a powder finish, and features, on top of our trademark mineral blend, both oil-controlling (rice powder) and moisturizing (jojoba oil) ingredients! While best for those with combination-to-dry skin types, this concealer/foundation formula fits just about anyone, ensuring that even the most delicate skinned can look poreless and flawless all day, every day!

Review

Packaging – It comes in a refill that costs P749 and you have to buy the separate magnetic-cardboard packaging that they also sell. I prefer cardboard packaging more than plastic or metal because they seem sturdier and less prone to breakage.

However, a cream product can be prone to dirt, dust, and bacteria. Mine has caught a lot of dust already (but this issue is with all cream-to-powder makeup products)

Coverage – Medium-High. As you can see on my tattoo swatch above, it still a lot of opacity after blending out.

Texture – Thick. That’s why I prefer applying this using my hands so that it can warm up a bit.

Scent – I don’t detect any strong fragrance

Longevity – Oh this lasted on my face for 6 hours without retouch

Finish – Matte

Thoughts – It’s great that it can cover my pimple marks and blur out my pores. BUT, the finish isn’t something that has wowed me. Compared to the Ellana Loose Mineral Powder Foundation that just turns your skin super radiant once it blends with your natural oil. The Cream-To-Powder finish dries matte, and flat. Even when using a moisturizer or even an oil as my base. I feel like it’s adding 10 years on my skin as it also settles into my smile lines and crows feet 🙁

I prefer foundations that gives more dimension to the face. A bit of dewy-ness. Radiance.

Maybe younger people with oily skin will most likely appreciate the powder matte finish. It’s got great oil control too!

This kind of foundation might really not be suitable for all. Though it may be a good product but it would have the perfect use for oily skin. For others it might look dry and dull. But still worth trying, who knows it will look better for you.
