Click on the image to see how fine the powder is. Not all silica-based finishing powders are the same. I ordered generic silica before when mineral makeups were all the rage and it was coarse and doesn’t adhere well to skin. Disappointed yes.
BYS HD Microfinish Powder, has extremeley fine silica particles that applies well over powder or liquid makeup and is colorless. This is a great setting powder for night time if you want to avoid the “whitecast” that most powders give because their ingredient is Titanium Dioxide which is a strong culprit for the mask-effect on face.
Did you know that silica powder is also great for controlling oil?
I apply this using a full and fluffy facebrush over my BB Creams or CC Creams since sometimes when I want my makeup to last longer, I use a setting powder. It also gives a nice soft-focus effect on your face makeup. Since this is pure silica, it will last you for YEARS without getting bad. Unless you finish the entire pot before that. I guess what could be improved is its packaging, the plastic case looks like it could easily break in your makeup kit.

This is a good setting powder if you’re looking for the following characteristics
- Controls Oil
- Leaves on white cast
- HD Ready
- Long lasting
I can definitely recommend this to budding makeup artists who are looking for a mid-range setting powder that won’t burn your wallets.
