Eyelash Perming Procedure 101 – Everything You Need to Know

I admit, after several attempts of having  lash extensions I finally gave up. Eyelash extensions look good after a week or so and then it starts to become painful, itchy, and annoying. I also abhor the sting of the glue used. I recently discovered a cool eyelash salon at Glorietta 3 named “Ooh La Lash”. Apparently, they are the only eyelash salon that has an FDA approved glue that is 100% safe and stings less compared to other lash salons. I almost gave in to getting extensions once more but since I love trying out mascaras and it’s easier to apply eye makeup without extensions, I decided to try another service: Eyelash Perming.

What is Eyelash Perming?

Eyelash permanent wave, or more commonly called an eyelash perm, and may also refer to permanent relaxer that straightens the hair is a cosmetics procedure performed only by licensed Cosmetologists to flip up eyelashes using hair perming technology.

Lashes are treated with a perm solution which is then followed by the neutralizer and sometimes depending on which system you use will have a nourishing oil as the last step to recondition and strengthen the lashes. Each being left on for about ten to fifteen minutes.

Once your lashes have been applied (by a special glue that does not harm the lashes) to the perm rod or silicone pad the perming solution is applied to the upturned lash, and then it is left to set for ten to fifteen minutes, followed by the neutralizer which is also left on for ten to fifteen minutes. Once the silicone pad has been removed the eye lids and lashes are cleansed of any residue left over. The over all procedure takes about 30-45 minutes to perform.

The results may lasts for two to three months. The chemical reaction breaks and reforms the bonds of the hair. This reaction, softening the lash’s inner structure between the protein chains of the hair. My Experience and Results

Ooh La Lash’s interior was very instagram worthy. Each spot is separated with big curtains and the place is relaxing. The staff was very friendly and responded to my makukulit questions. The procedure only took 40 minutes. I fell asleep because while my lashes were curling I was also treated to a nice shoulder  and head massage. It felt wonderful! When I woke up and looked at the mirror I was stunned! My lashes are perfectly curled! I always had a struggle keeping them up because they’re thin and mascaras usually make them droopy even after curling them. Now, I just put on any mascara and it stays curled forever! (well until 2-3 months LOL)

• Is it worth it? YES
• Will I come back and do it again? I’ll do it on a monthly basis! It saves so much time and it feels good to see my lashes perfectly curled. Just mascara and I’m good to go!!! No need for eyelash curlers.
