3 Best Sunblocks to Buy This Summer + Bonus

Hey y’all. I’ve been receiving a lot of questions about which sunblock to use for a specific purpose and which are great to use to protect your skin from turning dark. People who are into skin whitening or even those who just want to keep their skin protected from harsh UV rays may find this post useful. I remember posting my favorite sunblocks last 2014 and ever since then, I just kept 3 of the most useful. Now unless a new, better product comes out. I’ll keep this list updated. Always. πŸ™‚

Before anything else, why should you use a sunblock? Not just to avoid your skin from darkening. Too much sun exposure can make our skin prone to skin cancer, and speed up the aging process. Who wants to look old andΒ sickat the same time right? If you want more details on the product, they have a separate review. Just clickity-click on the link.

#1 Best Sunblock to Use Everyday

Belo Sun Expert Spray

  • It’s non-sticky
  • It’s conveniently spray form. Just spray spray spray all over your face and body and you’re done
  • High SPF 50 PA+++
  • Fragrance-free
  • Does not clog pores
  • A lot of product
  • Colorless
  • Affordable, a big bottle for 495php like this can last you more than 3 months with daily usage
  • Easy to find and easy to buy. You can get this baby almost anywhere

#2 Best Sunblock to Use When Swimming

Mentholatum Sunplay SPF130 (since 2011)

    • Best sunblock to use at the beach and swimming.
    • Extremely waterproof
    • High SPF at 130 PA+++ means you can re-apply even after more than 2 hours of being exposed to the sun
    • Helps a lot in preventing your skin from darkenning
    • Affordable at 399php/bottle
  • Has a smooth texture. Easy to apply on the skin.

#3 Best Sunblock to Use at the Beach

Β Shiseido UV Protective Stick

  • Water resistant
  • Does not clog pores
  • It has AMAZING coverage. If you’re the type of person who don’t like to look bare-faced at the beach this is for you. It’s like your BB Cream for the beach. You can even go swimming in this
  • Glides on the face smoothly like butter
  • Cons? It’s pricey at around 2,500 per stick.
If you are looking for a more heavy duty beach sunscreen that is perfect for surfing, I recommend checking out the guide FinBin put together. They go into more details about sunscreen specifically for ocean sports so if you are planning on activities like surfing, swimming or snorkeling at the beach, take a look!

#3 Bonus – Best Daily Sunblock for Face Protection

    • Oil-Free
    • Does not clog pores
    • SPF50 (higher SPF than shiseido)
    • Blends and glides smoothly on skin
    • Is neatly packaged on a compact with mirror and sponge!
    • When settled on skin after a few minutes, it’s seamless
    • UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum
    • Naturally enhances skintone and complexion like CC cream
  • Does not leave white cast on photos during daytime
There you go folks! My all-time favorite sunblocks! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please leave a comment below. I always like reading them and try to reply to everyone when I have time πŸ™‚

I've tried the first two, and my favorite is Belo's pa rin. That's probably because it gets the most use from me. The spray is just so convenient for daily use.

Hi miss Kaycee. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about this. You are a true kikay! πŸ˜‰ Anyway, i purchased all the ingredients you stated above and i'm going to try it πŸ˜‰ And my question is, how often ka ba mag apply sa isang week? Once? twice? thanks!

  • Reply kikaysikat May 13, 2015 at 1:40 am

    Hi Yoshiko πŸ™‚
You're welcome! I use it once a week lang Pero ngayon tinamad kaya I'm not using it na hehe

  • Reply Yoshiko May 13, 2015 at 5:24 am

Thanks for replying! haha gi try ko toh just today all over my body and…

hmm di ko alam nag effect ba pero cguro try ko ulit. Moderate ang kulay ng skin ko. They said maputi naman ako but I guess i'm being a perfectionist kaya I want to even out the color of my skin. xD

Anyway, pag mix ko nun lahat, after 10 mins (nilagay sa jar), parang bumaba yung liquid at sa top napuno ng soap na gi grate ko ~.~ I'm imagining kasi na maging liquid lahat. Ganun ba tlga yun? haha (I know my question doesn't make any sense xD)

  • Reply asdfghjkl01 May 19, 2015 at 6:36 am

Please allow me to share my own experience upon trying this DIY.
I applied it on my both arms. I left if for like 45 mins. Balak ko tlga i-rinse xa after 1 hour, kaso prng may tingling sensation kya 45 mins plng binanlawan ko na. And after that, the sensation lasted for like 5 more mins. As in prng nangangati tlga aq and I can see small red spots on my arms. So ayun, I have to throw all the mix and feel bad about it. =( I followed the instructions naman so I am wondering what went wrong. </3

  • Reply kikaysikat May 19, 2015 at 6:49 am

OMG ilang percent ng hydrogen peroxide ginamit mo? You did the right thing! Stop when you feel any bad effects! Hindi ka hiyang in one of the ingredients siguro..

  • Reply asdfghjkl01 May 19, 2015 at 7:17 am

I purchased the exact ingredients and brands na you have specified. But then again *sobs* I find my skin somehow lightened pero makati. =(

  • Reply MommyCharm May 19, 2015 at 5:50 pm

Back in high school, my mom would bleach my whole body twice a year yata (for my Christmas party and graduation/ recognition day) and I remember that she'd purchase all the ingredients either from HBC or Hortaleza. The smell of the bleach stings a lot but worth it. I'll try your "recipe" soon.

Have you tried Biore's Perfect Milk sunblock (for body and face)? I've read really good reviews about it but sunblocks almost ALWAYS clog my pores even if it claims it doesn't.
