REVIEW: Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Powder Foundation
I noticed that as I get older, the less experimental I become when it comes to beauty products. Especially with makeup. Now this doesn’t mean I try less. It only means I reached a point that you already know what type of products work for you and what doesn’t. Despite staying in my base comfort zone the past few months, I learned to love something NEW I recently discovered. The Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Powder Foundation. Why am I loving thee? Review
Because I’ve been lazy with makeup these past few weeks I wanted something that can make me flawless in jiffy. Liquids take time to apply, minerals sometimes is a chore to buff on. I used to love NARS All-Day Luminous’ finish but I HATE HATE HATE it’s clicky packaging that breaks the powder into pieces in time. Sometimes I think if they did that on purpose so you’ll buy a refill sooner.
UNTIL
Packaging – Make Up For Ever’s Matte Velvet Skin Powder Foundation. It comes in a sleek tin magnetic case (refillable!) with a double-sided puff. One for extra coverage and one for sheer.
Product – It has a soft velvety texture that really adheres on skin on contact. Compared to other powders, this doesn’t sit on top. It blends seamlessly making it look like second skin! Even after hours of wear it didn’t settle into my wrinkles (huhu) or laugh lines.
Coverage – You can choose to build its coverage from light-medium. One layer using the darker side is enough to cover 70% of my skin’s redness. I still need to use a heavy duty concealer for those healing acne marks but when I don’t have the time of day for a full face, this powder is enough for me!
Matte, not flat.
Staying Power – It does last a good 12 hrs without changing its color. Even when I’m acidic! So that’s a plus plus plus! No more “get a shade lighter” shnizz. It also helps keep my skin less like an oil slick and more like a plush velvet pillow.
Final Thoughts – I’d have to say this is one product I’ll definitely re-purchase. It’s worth the splurge because it’s true to its claims. Perfect if you’re someone like me who’s always in a rush but wants to look primp and pretty in a flash!
