REVIEW: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++
Hi guys! Today we’ll be reviewing Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++. I COULD NEVER GET ENOUGH OF SUNSCREENS. Heck I’ll keep on trying new ones in search of the perfect sun protection for every occasion. Why so? UV rays and the sun is one of the number 1 cause of early signs of skin aging and skin damage. The best way to protect our skin is through using effective sunscreens. But with the numerous brands available in the market today, not everything is good and not everything works.
Before we discuss the sunscreen let’s recap on the basics. If you’re new to sun protection, the SPF number and all the PA pluses must confuse you at first. So here’s a brief explanation:
- SPF is how much of UVA percentage a sunscreen can protect us from
- PA+++ is how much UVA damage it can protect us from
- You still need to re-apply sunscreen every 3-4 hours

Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++
In a Nutshell:
- Natural Ingredients
- Lightweight
- Oil-control
- Cruelty-free
Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway is a sunscreen that protects skin from UV rays with a petal-like finish. It uses a non-chemical UV filter that protects skin from both UVA and UVB. Gentle on sensitive skin. Controls excessive sebum on the skin with a micro powder system while hyaluronic acid ensures the skin is kept hydrated throughout the day.
Micro particles absorb sebum and excess oil from the skin to give a light, velvety finish. As you apply the Sunaway, hyaluronic acid replenishes moisture and deeply hydrates the skin.
Applies evenly and smoothly onto the skin without leaving a white cast behind. This is due to an advanced non-chemical UV filter with a more transparent formula.

Review
Okay. I bet you want to know how this sunscreen works after that lengthy description. Whew. You probably need the important things like:
Does it leave a white cast? NO. I’m happy to confirm that this sunblock does not leave a white cast. Despite the initial pinkish white color of the product itself. It blends in and has a transparent finish
What does it smell like? Roses. Fresh roses.
Packaging? It comes in my favorite colors! White and pastel pink. It’s in a rectangular bottle with a twist-off cap and a metal ball inside to mix the ingredients together. Yes, most sunscreens need to be mixed in order to have an even application of all the components.
How does it feel? I can feel the silica spheres making it velvet-like. It has a dry powdery finish but not chalky. It’s not as weightless as I would prefer but it’s lighter than most.
Does it control oil? We’re in a humid nation and oil is hard to control. While this helped in keeping my face matte longer, after 2 hours a bit of shine seeps through.
Does it moisturise? Yup! I can definitely feel that it helps retain my skin’s moisture with the hyaluronic acid spheres.
Did it make you break out? NO!! I’m so happy! A few of my favorite-textured sunscreens cause me to have tiny bumps and acne but this one didn’t! Even one time after I forgot to wash my face one evening.
Do you recommend this product? YES. YES. YES. This has got to be ONE OF THE BEST sunscreens I’ve tried.. I don’t mind buying this over and over and over again
