Real Talk: How I Stay Fit While Eating a Lot!
One of the most common question I get from my readers besides the “Ano po best glutathione sa inyo?” (LOL) is “How do you manage to stay fit (slim) even when eating a lot?”. In today’s post we discuss this without any bullshit. I will tell you as it is. Real talk lang.
#3 EXERCISE
My cousin once asked me how to lose weight without any exercise. She was once the slimmest of all of us cousins but age took its toll. We cannot rely on metabolism alone because time slows it down. GET ACTIVE! EXERCISE! I am not telling you to lift heavy weights like I do. It’s my workout of choice. You can do jump ropes, push-ups, planks. Basics! Easy and simple exercises! While you will not have the best body of your life doing this, at least you won’t get fat.
If you want to try the work-out I’m doing, do refer to my Wendler 531 writeup. It only takes me 30-45 minutes a day, twice a week at least to get everything done.
#2 DIET
Okay. When we talk about diet, I’m talking about our food intake. Not food control. There’s a popular saying that our body is 70% diet and 30% exercise. That’s a fact, BUT! Stop limiting yourselves to crazy 1,200 calorie diets and impossible deficits. During the time that I was overweight, I also tried taking slimming pills, fibers, and whatnots. I controlled what I ate to the point where I binge and starve myself in a cycle. It never works. Never will.
What helped me get on the right track to a sustainable eating lifestyle is IIFYM or If IT Fit Your Macros. I discussed this on detail on my “Project Sexy” post. After years of eating within my macro requirements, I can already estimate what I need to eat in my head based on what I want to eat. I eat when I want to. Eat when you’re hungry. Stop when you’re full. It’s that easy! I love eating meat so getting my protein requirements come easy.
#1 GENETICS
I mentioned earlier that my cousin was the one of the slimmest in our family. Well, I’m no exception. I was basically slim until I gave birth. My body structure is a hybrid of an ectomorph and a mesomorph.
There are three basic human body types: the endomorph, characterized by a preponderance of body fat; the mesomorph, marked by a well-developed musculature; and the ectomorph, distinguished by a lack of much fat or muscle tissue
If you are an endomorph chances are you easily gain weight. So you have to work extra harder to shed of the pounds. There are blessed folks who are mesomorphs who do little yet looks so good. We can envy them, but remember hard work does pay off. So if we want to get fit and be the best body that we can, work for it. Fitness is a lifestyle, not a program
